Northbooks is a small publishing, editing and typesetting firm located in Eagle River, Alaska, 10 miles north of Anchorage in what is known as Southcentral Alaska.
Placed at 61° N, we are on the same general latitude as Oslo, Norway; Stockholm, Sweden; Helsinki, Finland; St. Petersburg, Russia; northern Labrador, Canada; Cape Farwell, Greenland and central Siberia, Russia. This region of the globe and environs north of this latitude are identified as the circumpolar community of nations and states. There is a commonality to the cultures of the communities found throughout this region of the globe, forged by common environmental conditions unique to sub-arctic regions. Authors of literature, memoirs and inspirations are the first to reflect and articulate this commonality.
Northbooks is uniquely placed to discover, nurture and publish the memoirs, adventures and inspirations of circumpolar authors. Its owners (solely-owned by husband and wife) are 40+ year residents of Alaska, having lived and traveled throughout the Alaskan and Canadian sub-arctic environment. Modern electronic communications has enabled us to conquer the distances that in times past were a major obstacle to outreach and integration.
Here in the North, we are now milliseconds away from each other and from you viewers in the lower latitudes. The benefits of modern technology allow us all to share the wonder, beauty and blessings of this very unique and special region in our "global village," as described by our authors.
